We signed a lease the other day for a place on Waterview Walk, Docklands, VIC 3008. It's close to work and transport. It has a view of Southern Cross Station and the CBD. We had a look at it last night... it's bigger than we remember from the inspection, so there should be room for guests.
The movers should deliver our stuff tomorrow and hopefully the electricity and gas will be on by Friday (though Monday is a distinct possibility).
We're quite excited that we have a place after all the searching.
Also Ben has arrived... we're slowly importing friends from the west.

carlton goes down :( !
Leon and I went to the Blues/Hawthorn match last night at telstra dome; needless to say, we left early! Partly the freezing cold, partly the appalling performance from the team I have supported for the last 22 years! I finished my first week on the job on friday and remember all too well just how much it sucks to get up at the crack of dawn 5 days a week! On the apartment hunting front, it's all too scary realising that we still don't have an apartment and we'll need to leave the quest soon. Really soon. Like, less than a week. But they'll let us stay, right? Right??!! We'll put some new photos up soon, until then we'll try and stay warm in this bitter cold!

Long Weekend
Well, not that Reners needs yet another day off in her extended sabbatical, (I call it supporting my man!!!), but Leon has appreciated 3 days off in a row! Last night was home-made pizza with beers and vino at chez Ian & Kylie, which was fab, and today has been very slow to start, although, very pleased to report, not due to any hangovers! The apartment hunting will no doubt be put on hold today, I don't think anyone is around to give us keys, so it looks like we'll be hanging out, watching the footy, and possibly indulging in a beverage or two! I think that's all to report now, although it must be mentioned to Mosman Place that we were thinking of you guys all weekend enjoying beautiful Margaret River. I'm sure plenty of food and wine was consumed with us in mind!!!
Stay tuned, love us!xoxo

Week one down
We've been hunting for an apartment in the CBD or Docklands or just about anywhere within walking distance of work and the Queen Victoria markets. With that in mind, Renee has been looking for work in the CBD area. We applied for a place on Collins and Spencer; hopefully that'll come through before 21/6/07 when our sponsored stay at the Quest ends.
The first couple of days were packed. We went to Bopha Devi on Thursday night; we had the place to ourselves for a while; the food was very aromatic. Renee took me to Benito's on Friday night to celebrate my first day of working for BOM. It was a really great meal (chicken served on semolina gnocchi; grilled swordfish). We went to Citrus Mint in North Melbourne on Saturday night with Ian an Kylie. It was a really nice meal too. The place was small and full of people the food came in large serves and was great (spicy pork stir fry; red duck curry)
Queen Victoria markets on Sunday to get some supplies - vegetables are really cheap compared to those of Coles and the throngs of convenience stores.
Work has been going well; I seem to have a grasp of the direction they want to be headed in. The people are friendly and have been very helpful.
The end of the working week was rewarded with a trip to the football (Ess vs WC). The bombers got up by a point. The first half was dominated by the eagles, but once the bombers started getting back into the match the crowd got right behind them. They got really loud once Lloyd and Lucas started bombing away. Somehow they turned it up a notch with 30 seconds remaining. Lots of fun.

Arrival in Melbourne
Hi. We've arrived in Melbourne, safe and sound. It was a really easy flight. The only slight difficulty was that the taxi driver didn't really know where we should be headed. We did find the apartments after a little searching. The place is very modern, like all of Docklands. It's also rather fake, so we want to find a place for ourselves asap.
